The independence day surprise

I took my girls to amusement park to celebrate the 4th of July. Well, actually not to celebrate the American Independence Day, but to have some fun in the beginning of the three-week holidays. Going to an amusement park with your children is money well spent. Though, I must admit that I'm so stingy that I did not buy an entrance bracelet for myself, only for the girls. I only bought a couple of single tickets for devices which interested me the most while the girls visited all the devices that they could.

A guy who painted my friend's Corvette during the passed winter visited my garage the other day. I wanted to hear his comments on how I should proceed with my bodywork if he would paint my pony in the winter. I was glad to hear that my thoughts had been the same which he recommended. First thing to do is to get my pony back on its' all fours then reassemble it and ensure that all of the parts fit. After this I would dismantle the doors, fenders, trunk lid and hood. OK. But how much would the paint job cost. He gave an estimation of 5000 € including some sheet metal straightening. Now, this was something which exceeded my initial budget for this part of the project. I'm sure that his work would be of excellent quality but I'm building up a daily driver here, not a show car.

It's been 10 months since I rode the pony last time. The summer is at it's best and I really do long for the days of last summer with my Mustang. Would this have been a perfect day to enjoy Mustang while driving home after a nice day in the amusement park. I set the navigator of my station wagon to "avoid-the-main-roads" and was driving back home along the bending country roads. This kind of roads would have been perfect for the six-engine of my 'vert.

But for a modern station wagon with all of the safety belts, unlocking brakes, driving stability systems and all of it's dozen air bags, I felt like 80 kms per hour (50mph) speed limit is not enough. Surely, the policeman in the approaching patrol car did not agree my point of view.

His radar measured 108 kms per hour (67 mph) which resulted a speeding ticket of 700 €. Yes, you read it right ! Seven hundred euros ($1000) ! Freedom and justice have prevailed, I guess.

I really do have to get back to the garage after my vacation. I can not afford to drive these boring modern cars any more.
